About the Company

Huffy began as a manufacturer of bicycles in the late 19th century, and they later started making residential basketball hoops. Though Spalding is famous as a basketball manufacturer, the company was actually founded by a retired pro baseball player in 1876. The company produced the very first basketball per the instructions of the inventor of basketball in 1891. In 2004, the Russell corporation acquired Huffy Sports.
